In this a series of brief blog posts I discuss Christian basics as articulated in The Church of the Nazarene Articles of Faith. As one prepares for ordination as an Elder Clergy in the the Church of the Nazarene, these articles serve as the heartbeat and foundation of who we are as a people and the foundation on which our clergy stand.
Jesus lived, walked among us, preached, healed, and taught us about the Kingdom of Heaven. His life, death, and resurrection redefined the world and inaugurated the kingdom of heaven. Jesus tells us, in him the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Jesus dies for our sins on a Roman cross. Three days later he arose from the dead, was resurrected, taking again His body, together with all things appertaining to the perfection of man's nature He ascended into heaven and intercedes for us even today!
In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, Christians today live with the hope that we will also be resurrected, made new, and live eternally in God's presence. In the meantime, we are not to live passively, waiting around until Jesus comes again. We are to anticipate, live-into, and serve as Kingdom-Bringers - men and women following Jesus and the kingdom he began.
